This is a common problem in AVAYA  IP phones, no dial tone when picking up a line, just restart the ip phone, by unplugging the power adapter and plugging it again.

1- press Mute button.

2- type "clear" by pressing the buttons once, for example, press 2 5 3 2 7.

3- press #

4- the following message will appear

Clear all values?

*=no  #=yes

 choose #

5- another message will appear

Are you sure?

*=no  #=yes

 press # if you are sure, or * if you do not know.

Cisco USB Console Port

Due to the high prices of the USB To Serial cable converter used to connect to the console cable of CISCO devices, CISCO has recently added a new USB console port to it's products, that uses a cheap USB cable, that also widely used with other devices, for example external USB hard disk. also the traditional 45rj console port still available to provide compaitability with legacy PCs or to be used with the USB To Serial cable converters.

AVAYA IP Phone Error: DHCP: CONFLICT

sometimes after configuring the AVAYA ip phone you face this problem. and the following error message appears:

DHCP: CONFLICT

* to programe

the ip phone can not take an ip normally from the dhcp, even if you configured the ip phone manually or further more by resetting the ip phone the following errror message appears:

Bad Router

* to programe.

this problem is caused by stale records in the mac address table of the switch.

so if it is a manageable switch clear the mac address table or reload the switch.

Dear all,

problem solved: Linksys access point WAP610N does not forward dhcp requests to the dhcp server. The current firmware is : 1.0.01   so upgrade it to the firmware version v1.0.04.007 But make sure of the following:

1- no clients should be connected to the access point during upgrade.

2- upgrade should not be interrupted.

How To Reserve An IP Address In CISCO DHCP Server

if you wanna  reserve an ip address for a certain client, for example a server in CISCO DHCP server follow these steps:

1- first you need to make a DHCP pool for this client alone.

2- find the mac address of the client "for example use (ipconfig / all) for windows and (ifconfig) for Linux" at the client, or you can use network scanners to find this information.

3- add 01 to the beginning of the mac address you got, for example:

if the mac address is 502c.e40e.fabf  add 01 to the beginning of the mac to be 0150.2ce4.0efa.bf.

01 indicates that it is an Ethernet client.

4- you can add optional features like the client name.

5- specify the lease period to be infinite.

Example:

ip dhcp pool amnetwrok
   host 192.168.10.1 255.255.0.0
   client-identifier  0150.2ce4.0efa.bf
   client-name AM-Client
   lease infinite

Tunnel Interface & EIGRP  Flapping Routes Case Study

 

 in this case, at first i had a Tunnel interface with real ip to connect to a remote site using this tunnel. i used static routes.

after that, we have configured EIGRP to work over MPLS, i have given the static routes used with the tunnel a higher administrative distance just to allow EIGRP  to be the primary routing protocol, and to use the tunnel as backup solution.

for example:

ip route 192.168.10.0 255.255.0.0 10.10.10.1 200

where 10.10.10.1 is the tunnel interface identifier "also it may be the other end of the tunnel identifier".

the problem was that, some routes may flap, because i forgot to shutdown the tunnel interface.

shutting down the tunnel interface, solved the problem.

1-connect the power adapter

2-connect the network cable

3-wait till the phone powers up

4- press * to configure the ip phone manually otherwise it will prompt for a DHCP server.

5-when you see this message

Enter PROCPSWD:

#=OK

----------------------

press # to continue

6- Phone=0.0.0.0

    New= "insert the ip you will give to this ip phone"

note that * equals . for example to type 10.10.1.12 it will be 10*10*1*12

to delete a number just press - in the volume button

then press # to go to the next step

7- CallSv=0.0.0.0

    New= "insert the ip of the avay call manager "or server"

then press # to go to the next step

8- Router=0.0.0.0

    New= "insert the ip address of the gateway on your lan "router ip address" "

then press # to go to the next step

9- Mask=0.0.0.0

    New= "insert the subnet mask"

then press # to go to the next step

10- FileSv=0.0.0.0

     New= "insert the file server ip address or leave it empty

then press # to go to the next step

11-802.1Q=auto

*=change #=ok  if you have vlans and use trunnking press * to turn 802.1q trunking on otherwise press # to keep it off

press # to proceed

12- Save new values?

*=no #=yes

press # to accept the configuration, you should see this message "new values have been accepted". then the phone will restart

after restart it will ask you for the Extension of this phone,

Enter Extension

Ext= 123 #ok

insert the extension and press # to confirm

then it will ask you for the password\

enter the password supplied by the voip admin then press # to confirm, and you are done.

GNS3 New Release (GNS3 0.8.2) Final

أخيراً، ظهرت النسخة 0.8.2 واللي سبقها نسختين بيتا من فترة. الناس اللي بتواجه نفس مشكلة التيرمنال اللي بيظهر سطر سطر وده بطئ ومش حقيقي، يعني راوترات وسويتشات سيسكو التيرمنال فيها بيظهر مرة واحدة مش سطر سطر، علشان نتغلب علي المشكلة ديه سطب الاول النسخة 0.7.3 وبعدين سطب النسخة الجديدة 0.8.2 لان المشكلة ديه من الـGNS3 ديه مشكلة المبرمجين بتوع الـDYNAMPIS.

 يعني مثلا لو عندنا الجهازين دول:

192.168.10.1/24

192.168.10.2/16

هل ينفع الاتنين يكلموا بعض مع إن الماسك مختلف؟

واقعياً ممكن، لأن لما الجهاز التاني مثلا يحاول يكلم الأول حيعمل matching بين اول اتنين اوكتات من ايبي الجهاز الأول وبين أول اتنين اوكتات من الأيبي بتاعه حيلاقي الاتنين شبه بعض. وبالعكس لما الجهاز الأول يستلم الباكيت حيمعل matching بين اول تلاتة اوكتات من الايبي بتاعه وبين ايبي الجهاز الثاني حيلاقي الاتني زي بعض، وبالتالي يقدروا يكلموا بعض. هنا الفكرة إننا بنشوف اكبر ماسك اللي هو هنا 24 وبالتالي بنقارن اول تلاتة اوكتات من الايبي مع ايبي الجهاز التاني يعني حنلاقي ان 192.168.10 ده المشترك بين الاتنين ايبي وبالنسبة للجهاز التاني حيقارن اول اتنين اوكتات بس وده المهم بالنسبة له لأن الماسك بتاعه 16

بطريقة تانية لو الاوكتات التالت في الايبي التاني مثلا كده 192.168.20.0/16  مش حيكلموا بعض لأن الجهاز الأول لما يجي يعمل matching حيلاقيهم مختلفين.

حتبقي أوضح إن شاء الله لما تطبقها عملي.

GNS3 0.8.2 BETA2

بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام علي رسول الله وآله وصحبه وإخوانه وسلم

صدرت نسخة جديدة من الـGNS3 وديه النسخة البيتا رقم 2، يعني لسة الاصدار النهائي قدامة شوية.

من خلال نظرة سريعة علي النسخة، صراحة رائعة:

- التيرمينال رجع زي الأول، بدل ما كان بيعرض سطر سطر، لا بيعرض الـoutput مرة واحدة "وده اللي مخليني شغال علي النسخة 0.7.3 لحد النهاردة الصبح بس لحد ما نزلت النسخة الجديدة.

- تم اضافة الـvpcs 0.21a إلي البرنامج حتلاقي البرنامج في ملف البرنامج:

C:\Program Files\GNS3\vpcs

اعمله shourtcut علي الديسكتوب.

- طبعا البرنامج بقي خفيف جداً ومابيخدش processing عالي، صراحة نسخة ممتازة.

- تم اضافة ايقونة للـvitrual box.

- كل host بتضيفه بيعرض كل الـloopbacks علي الجهاز مباشرة وانت تختار اللـloopback المناسبة.

- اضافة dock خاصة بالـcaptuers الخاصة بالـwireshark.
